KUPS 90.1 FM The Sound, first and foremost, is a student-run, non-profit, non-commercial radio station from the basement of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. We operate both on FM radio in the Seattle-Tacoma region (90.1 of course), as well as on-line through the streaming found on the home page, or through streaming applications such as Tune-In.

Our goal is to give students and community members a platform to amplify local artists and their own voices! We give our DJ’s no creative limits for their shows, allowing our station to truly play such a unique mix of sounds and songs.

Comprised of typically around 100 DJ’s and 20 or so staff members each calendar year, we are a music loving community awaiting your ears and eyes! Listen in wherever you get your radio, and reach out with songs, gigs, and more that you think we should know about.
